Powered By SCT Technology - NATO's Logistics Routing Hub Wins AIM North America Award - AIM NA Honours NATO as 2019 Organisation of the Year
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 24 September 2019 AIM North America (the trusted industry association for the automatic identification industry) has announced that it has named NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) as its 2019 Organisation of the Year. This prestigious award is in recognition of ACT’s role in leading NATO’s Asset Tracking Working Group (AST WG) and its work in standardising the use of automatic identification (AIT) and data capture technology to track the movement of critical material and equipment. The work recognised by AIM was around the challenge in how to facilitate the exchange of tracking information as no nation wanted to establish 27 separate and distinct communications channels all with different protocols. Under ACT guidance and leadership, the AST WG was able to establish an AIT routing hub at the NATO Supply and Procurement Agency in Luxembourg supporting standardised protocols. The NSPA Routing Hub is now capable of receiving and routing both barcode and RFID tracking reads. These efforts are a unique achievement in that it required all the NATO nations to agree to handle the cargo of other nations and reporting their movement.
